About Alica

I am a very patient, loving, dependable person. I am compassionate and understand another person's struggles. I am a mother of eight and have many years of experience with caring for others. As a young child I had a heart for babies and the elderly. At five years old I was so proud to walk my 80 year old grandfather around our neighborhood. Some people are takers and some are givers. I've always been a giver. If I see someone in need, I just naturally jump in with help. Helping others gives me a sense of peace. We all know life can be hard, so I like to make it easier for others any time I'm able to . We all have different qualities, and I believe caregiving is a gift. I'm so thankful for the opportunity of caring for my mother after she was diagnosed with lung cancer. I moved into her home, with my then 3 month old baby, to make sure my mom felt loved and cared for. I felt it was my way of honoring my mother and showing respect for all the years she cared for her children. Most people do not get to experience being with a parent when their life is over and I will always consider it an honor.

I began giving care to others primarily with the birth of my first child. I have eight children and have taken care of them during childhood illnesses, along with cuts, rashes, broken bones etc. I have experience caring for my father during heart attacks, gall bladder surgery and vascular surgeries, while in the hospital and also in his home. I cared for my mother after she was diagnosed with lung cancer. I monitored and regulated her blood glucose levels, prepared her meals, assisted with daily baths and trips to the restroom. I also administered Morphine and held her hand as she took her last breath. I have been a caregiver my whole life. I will be an asset to any company I work for, but more importantly, a blessing to those I will care for.

I was able to help get this person out of the chair and to start walking again. It made me feel so good to see smiles from my client and the family because of how I dedicated myself to her, I was able to give hope and was able to see my client do somethings on their own. It is definitely a highlight to caregiving.
