Being a caregiver is not just a title, it's a lifestyle that I walked into and part of me was born with. My name is Kiara, I am 24 years old and a mother to a 3 year old amazing little boy. Before becoming what I am today I did a lot of different jobs in different fields. Having my son changed my whole outlook on life and truly brought out that nurturing instinct that was always inside of me. After being home with my son for a year I decided to step into the field of being a Direct Support Professional for Mentally Handicap Individuals. It changed my life and I knew from that point forward this is what I wanted to do, care for anyone and everyone. I was destined to care for other people and help them in every aspect in their lives. I have had the greatest pleasure of being with individuals and helping them with things in their life that no longer seemed quite so easy anymore and it gave me the upmost enjoyment to know no matter how small or big those things might have been, I could help make a difference to them and see a smile on their face. The relationships I've been so lucky to build over the years just makes being a caregiver so much more amazing to not only be able to help someone but to have had the opportunity to get to know someone on a person level and not just a work level means so much more to me. I love what I do, I love making a difference in someone else's life, I love being someone's peace and helping them in any way I can.
