When I was very young my adopted father had diabetes and he was a single father of two girls. When I was just 6 years old, he taught me how to check his blood sugar and give insulin when he was unable. For 3 years I managed to keep up with the health of my father. And as I got older, I learned that I enjoyed taking care of my father. The experience gave me a head start on my future career. I knew by the age of 9 I wanted to become a doctor. Sadly, My father passed away when I was 9 1/2 years old. I grew up in system and never forgot what I was taught. My father use to quote " Where the battle rages, there the loyalty of the soldier is proved." And I still live by this. As a individual, who grew up without permanent family, I can only imagine how and what type of care I would want for my parents if they were ever in need. I understand the difficulty of the decision you have to make for your elderly parents , and I want you to know that I am here every step of the way.
