As an experienced caregiver, I have had the privilege of acquiring both wisdom (I hope) and knowledge from my clients. We all have different needs and wants, no one needs the exact same thing as the other person. With this knowledge I treat all my clients with respect to their needs as an individual. If I needed assistance I would like my assistance to treat me with dignity and to give me integrity. That is my mission statement, that I treat all my clients as the special individual they are. Needing someone else to assist us with the most basic would make the strongest amongst us feel vulnerable. I provide my care with absolute consideration of this fact. Especially with elderly clients I am very considerate of the fact that just not long before they have to meet me, they were capable of doing most of the tasks I am there assist them with. It is with knowledge that I make sure that my clients needs are met without me making my presence obvious. I like quite environments and I ensure if my companionship is needed it is provided as my clients would prefer. Sometimes a client needs to chat while other times it just makes them feel secure that there is another person near then even though they don't need engagement, maybe just a reassuring smile, or how are you doing? Would make their day brighter.
