I became an in-home caregiver after I saw the treatment of the elderly in a nursing home where I was working. I felt if I could just keep one person from being subjected to that kind of treatment I would be doing some good. Now of course the laws & regulations have changed but I still feel the same way, if I can help keep some one in the comfort of their own home a little while longer, than Iv done some good. What I like most, that I am able to help people when/where they can't help themselves. Personal achievement.. I don't know if you would call it an achievement but I encouraged one of my client s, who has MS, to start physical therapy. Now she is standing & using the facilities on her own. Im 56 yrs young, have two grown boys, and have a small craft business on the side, which I derive great joy from. Im a decorative painter & greatly enjoy applying my talents to creating usable art.
