Some personality traits and expertise that would make me a great caregiver are that I have empathy, compassion, attention to detail, commitment to patient advocacy, caring, great communication, and stamina. As for expertise, I have worked in every setting of caregiving such as facilities, in home, group homes, clinics, and more. Also, I've worked with intellectual and developmental disabilities, geriatrics, pediatrics, and middle aged. What attracted me to become a caregiver is coming from a background of medical family history. All or most of my family are in healthcare in some way. Also, I took care of my grandfather for a long time as he was sick most of my life. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is being a companion for the consumers. I love to hear stories about when they were younger and build bonds and help put some of their struggles at ease to where they can obtain ways to start doing more for themselves with my help. A personal achievement I am proud of is giving a consumer who had Parkison's a voice.
