I became a caregiver the day I started helping my grandmother take care of my grandfather. He was diagnosed with brain cancer a while back and with my help we took care of him until he passed away. That was the moment my heart and mind was made up about being an caregiver. So I graduated from high school then I set out to look for work and was unsuccessful. Then my younger brothers told me about Job Corps, they explained that I could learn a trade and receive money once I complete the program. Of course at first I didn't buy into it because I wasn't sure it was gonna be what I expected for it to be, but later on I decided to sign up and go to an orientation. That orientation explained everything and I hopped right on it. I saw CNA on the list and even tho I had no knowledge of what it was my eyes would not move from it, so I looked it up to find out exactly what it was. Certified Nursing Assistant is what came up when I researched it, I was hooked. I attended Keystone Job Corps where I took up the CNA trade, I started in March and finished in June. I completed the 10 days of clinicals along with the 4 weeks of work-base learning and passed my Certification test with Red Cross. I love being an CNA, it allows me to not only care for those in need, but it also keeps me humble and down to earth. Being a CNA has made me a better person, I've learned so much just by taking this trade. I just love it and I'm not just saying that I am one of the few who actually mean that.
