I am very smiley and I try my hardest to keep a great conversation with all elderly residents they love to talk about their past and mostly there lovers and kids. For instance, I worked with a patient named Bill he built his family a house, he has Dementia but he still remembers that house and his family. I put a huge picture of the house in his room so he would never ever forget it. Caregiving wasn't something I wanted it was something I feel into and I love. My mother is a caregiver for a Dementia patient and she soon had to get rehabilitated and we got so attached to her we go visit her in her new facility. The patient is lovely and caring but as a whole we all played a part in taking care of her. I love mostly about being a caregiver is the time I spend with the individual and learn that before they where "sick" they were actual people with real lives and you have to treat them as such. Most of them can't control it and it's more about what you do as a reflex rather than what they do as a mistake. I'm very proud of how controlling I am of my feelings, i'm very sensitive and I thought this would not be an easy going field (which it's not) but as a caregiver you leaving your feelings at the door and make sure your patient feels loved and appreciated.
