I have been doing home care with mostly Seniors since about 2000. Before that I worked in a care facility as a caregiver before I went to nursing school. I was a nurse for 13 yrs. & a rehab aide for 14 yrs. @ a hospital in Ohio. I had CNA training in Ohio & have done mostly homecare since & continued with it since we moved to Arizona in 2003. I have been working 12Hr. 24Hr. shifts & have no problem working 2 & 3 days in a row, it's what I'm used to. I'm able to cook meals, transport to appts., or outings, grocery shop, laundry, assist with ADL's, assist with exercises, personal hygiene, & light housekeeping. I became a care giver very young. This is all I know is how to take great care of people. I have two children 7 and 2 months a wonderful husband that does hospice. Caregiving is a second career for me and one I have returned to after my 18 year career with Home Depot as an assistant manager. I am a seasoned caregiver. I've been helping people for over a decade. Caring for people is what makes me feel good at the end of the day. I want to make a difference on a personal level. Knowing I helped someone to get through their day is very fulfilling. I help people live, and I help people die. Both are necessary and worthy causes. My professional caregiving experience dates back from 2011 after I finished my studies in fundamental of caregiving, dementia, mental health, HIV and Aids, nurse delegation, food handling and medication dispensing amongst other vital provider courses. I started and got my hands on experience working in an adult family home taking care of six live in residents for a year. I provided personal care, companionship, and transportation services. I then moved on to an agency that assigned me two clients whom I took care of until they passed on. I was promoted to the lead caregiver where my duties involved not just taking care of vulnerable adults of all ages, but also training other caregivers and stepping in to take care of transitional clients as we found them stable, long-term care providers. It was a post I loved but had to give it up when I moved. I am well trained and state registered in Washington with an active viewable licence online and currently working on getting certified here as well.
