Hi, I'm Shawna, \"What makes me a great caregiver?\" I've raised six amazing children as a single mother and after 20 years of helping people feel good about themselves in the beauty industry, I took on the role of my 92 year old grandmother's caregiver. I cared for her for two years and I feel I've found my calling. I am, by nature, a very nurturing person so I'm in my element as a caregiver. I have excellent work ethics, I'm organized and very easy to get along with. I have a great respect for the elderly because they have paved the way for me and my children. I only pray that when my time comes, my children will take as good a care of me.

I believe that everyone deserves dignity in their care and I believe that family caregivers also need breaks. It doesn't make one weak to ask for help it makes you stronger. It is an opportunity to recharge your batteries. Caring for children with special needs can also be very taxing on the family unit and they need that moment to recharge. That is why I offer respite care. I was a CNA for 3 years and have been a respite provider/caregiver for nearly 4 years and I am now in my second semester of the Nursing program at VVC. I went to high school graduated and then decide to take some nursing class I did really liked it, my first experience as a home health aid I remember working at facility care I really loved it I learned so much , I am a caring and positive caregiver I always want to make sure that my client and family are fully satisfied and happy the way I work , I always like to show how much I am full of energy working as a caregiver, my responsibilities are bathing , reminder for taking meds, errands, driving to doctors appointments, and do activities of daily living as a caregiver, I love my work and I always want the best for my client to feel comfortable and safe.
