Assist them with oral care, hair care, shaving etc. I always promote independence and dignity and respect. I will treat your loved one the way I would want mine to be treated. with 100% devotion to their every need. What attracted me to being a care giver is the enormous need in our country today, I cared for my own grandmother in her 90's, and realized there is just not enough of us out there. I love bringing people Joy as well is receiving joy from them.

Dear Reader, Of Most Importance in Care-Giving is Understanding and Patience. A ) Understanding Comes not necessarily from having lived through the same experiences, in any given Life-Time, but on the Insight to Know; to Perceive, to Intuit, to Feel what the Other is Going, Through. B ) And Patience is, well, Self-Evident. My "A" is Exceptional, as I have "Worked" to Fine-Tune it, for YEARS, and continue to do so. And "B" is absolutely necessary for A. I'm also very Concise in my Verbalizations, as You can See. But if the Moment Calls for It; Active Listening is a Forte. Kindness is also of paramount importance in giving care. Not "Compassion" as People will Think - If You look at the Definition of "Compassion", it is PITY. We do not want, nay, need Pity. We Want more Kindness in this World. Kindness and Compassion are NOT one and the same. And, Well, the Kindness in any individual is best gauged by the observer. Sina :)

Being a good care partner has always been my goal in a career. I have achieved that goal and now want to share that knowledge and skill with other caregivers' weather they are at home or in a facility. I still give care and enjoy it, but I offer specialized training to the family and other caregivers at the same time to ensure the best care for the person suffering from dementia. I am proud of my accomplishment's as a certified independent trainer for (PAC) Teepa Snow's (positive approach to care) it has truly made a difference in the care and quality of life in everyone I care for. I am certified in ALC the Adult Learning Cycle to aid in the way I train individuals to ensure they are learning the best way for them.

I love being a caregiver I feel it is my calling after taking care of my great grandmother who had dementia and not knowing what to do really not knowing anything about dementia we had to put her in a dementia care unit so I applied for a job there so she would have a familiar face around and I fell in love with it.
