I have over 10 years experience. I worked with one client 10 years.I enjoy helping seniors, so they can stay in their home. Seniors have so much experiences and stories to share. I took the CNA training so that I could be able to help my parents as they got older. After the training, I found that I enjoyed it, and started working for pay. I started out helping someone, who recently had hip-replacement. Later I helped this same client through recovery from open-heart surgery. This client had no family, so I went to the hospital to check on them. I coordinated their needs at the nursing home and at home. I am dependable, trustworthy, punctual, caring, and loving. One of my passions is gardening and cooking, I enjoy sharing my talents with my clients. As I worked with clients, they shared with their friends and family how I was. As time went by, I got additional jobs, and even had clients on a waiting list for my help.

My names Sarah Merchant, Below you'll find some information to become better acquainted with me, along with links to my resume and certifications. I Received my CNA in Pittsburgh, PA., & spent the next several years working in facilities, in-home health and acute rehab's. Through those experiences I learned an overwhelming amount about patient care. I'm currently in the process of applying and testing to receive my CNA in Florida, where I've called home the past 13 years. I'm a certified HHA & former CNA Utilizing a proactive approach, along with Decisive and Knowledge-Based Judgments to provide your loved one with empathic, altruistic, attentive, & diligent patient care. Since working in facilities, & in home health, it has been my experience that patient care is about so much more than ADL's. Yes, Walking, feeding, dressing, grooming, Toileting, bathing, & transferring are pertinent requirements when living independently. To a greater degree, IADL's are key to managing independence. Managing finances, transportation, medications, communications, house cleaning & home maintenance are key. However, When looking at tasks of daily living, one thing that can't be taught is companionship. It only comes with experience. You can live independently, but without a gentle touch, relationships or conversation, emotional well-being & ones sense of self purpose is lost. It also has a profound effect on a patients health, & state of mind. Its impractical to make a positive impact or change without them feeling emotionally and physically safe. Besides providing patient care, my main focus is to make sure your loved ones health, daily tasks and emotional needs are met.

Skills & Certifications: Arthritis, Blood Disorders, Hearing Disorders, Gastrointestinal Disorders, HIV/AIDS, Vision and Eye Disorders, Tracheotomy / Ventilation, Stroke, Respiratory Disorders, Renal and Urological Disorders, Post Surgery Recovery, Parkinson's Disease, Orthopedic Care, Palliative Care, Neurological Disorders, Hospice Care, ALS, Alzheimer's Disease, COPD, Cancer Recovery, Cardiovascular Disorders, Diabetes, Depression, Dementia, Home Health Care

Caring for seniors is a passion of mine and has been for many years. My biggest achievement is attending nursing school at age 47 after being an executive secretary for years. My philosophy is to treat people as if they were my own family. Although I am a semi-retired RN, I am currently licensed in Michigan and Florida but I miss assisting with activities of daily living while keeping a client's independence and dignity in tact. My favorite work as an RN was Home Health Care for the last 15 years. It is so much better being in a client's home to determine what help is really needed and wanted. I am a happy, caring person and am anxious to help where I am needed. My residence is in the vicinity of Ocala's beautiful Public Library.

Skills & Certifications: Renal and Urological Disorders, Vision and Eye Disorders, Registered Nurse (RN), Home Care Aide (HCA), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Tracheotomy / Ventilation, Stroke, Skin Disorders, Respiratory Disorders, Post Surgery Recovery, Parkinson's Disease, Palliative Care, Orthopedic Care, Neurological Disorders, Multiple Sclerosis, Home Health Care, Hearing Disorders, Gastrointestinal Disorders, Diabetes, Depression, Dementia, COPD, Cardiovascular Disorders, Cancer Recovery, Arthritis, Alzheimer's Disease
