I took care of my father, in our home, for over 8 years before he passed away on Mother's day 2019. I managed his medication, cleaned the house, made his meals, washed his clothes, helped dress and gave him baths. I assisted him in walking and eating. I delt with insurance companies and doctors offices. I took him to and from the doctor. Changed bandages and just sat and talked to him. I now take care of my mother, in almost the same way. I love to help people and make them feel better in any way that I can. Taking the stress off the person and their families is a way, I feel like, I can make that happen. I have learned a lot (hands-on) and a personal achievement I'm proud of, is learning how to pull community resources to assist the families I help.

I have 34 years of Emergency Medical and patient care experience. I also have experience as a Director of a private Home Health Care Division where I ensured client schedules and home care needs were efficiently met. Hello. I'm Amanda, a dedicated professional caregiver and nurse. I started my career in 1995 as a in-home caregiver. I obtained my Certificate Nursing Assistant License from a Nursing Home. Cared for the Developmentally Disabled in a group. Worked in a "Half-Way House" caring for mentally ill. Long Term Care Unit in the Copper Queen Community Hospital. Oct 1999 Marietta Ga Supervisor Caregiver, Assisted Living Home. Worked in a Family Practice, Woodstock. Assisted Living seduced me back as Wellness Director. Motherhood sent me to Hospice as a private contractor for 2 years. Hospital work w/ 12hr/ 3days wk. Perfect for school! Then..my second son came in 2008. 2 small children is much more work then having one!In 2009 it became obvious there is no "perfect time" Kennesaw State University for general ed. 2012 onto to Ga Highlands College. Graduation in 2015. and to speak the vows of the nurse. Emergency room nurse, floating to all sorts of units. Knowing that I couldn't forget about the dying and scared, an old calling moved me to become a Hospice Nurse. My ignorance of the business within medicine soon drove to crave the ER again. Corporate work was predictable and I was not required to deal with the money coding and approvals of Medicare to see the patient. Nursing and Medicine doctors should not be asked to deal with tge money side of Healthcare. So, back the ER. COVID called out. 14 months COVID Reponder. Divinely driven to nurse, advocate, teach, comfort, study, suggest, sweet talk, elude safety and confidence as I proceed to provide the needed care and whatever that may entail fir as long as I can. So, here I am. At your service.

I became a caregiver by taking care of my own grandmother and father. I took it further and made it to be my career. I do not look at this as a job this is something I put my whole heart in and am very compassionate about. I believe all the people I kept at home along my journey makes this one of the best decisions I ever made.

I am compassionate about people and always willing to assist. My caregiving experience began with my father who had dementia. I cared for him in my home until he passed away in 2018. After that my mom had several falls which have resulted in me being her caregiver. I try to make sure those I am caring for are surrounded by positive thoughts and do my best to reduce their stress. I'm proud of working for the Cobb School System. I retired 6 years ago after working for 23 years. I assisted elementary age students age 5-10 years old, both in regular and special education.
