Hello my name is Michelle Dayton. I have worked in home healthcare for close to 25 years. I have been State certified as a CNA in both Michigan and Indiana. I am not currently certified but I am a registered HHA. I get tremendous enjoyment of taking care of others. My healthcare career started as a volunteer for hospice after I lost my grandparents. I've seen what amazing work they did and how at peace my grandparents were when they passed and I chose to pay it forward. I am a little more picky on the people I take care of then other Aides for two reasons: 1. If the client and I seem to clash it's no good for anyone. So I will not waste your time or my own. I will just respectfully decline the offer. 2. The clients I take on will not be just a clients. I love my people like they're my own family and I will do my absolute best to meet every need they have. If I cannot accomplish that I will find someone who can and put you in touch with them, because there's no sense in your family members being unhappy and uncomfortable in their own home. I feel that I am very caring and compassionate with each and every client that I've had. I believe everyone deserves respect, kindness and a voice( your opinion matters to me!) I will never force your family members to do something they don't want to do. I feel they have live through several wars, a great depression and a whole lot of hardship in the past and now is their time to be pampered. If your family member needs anything or you have questions about anything if I can't answer them I will find the answers and if I have the answers I will let you know.

I can take vitals, blood sugars, etc. I can set up medication sets and give medicines and injections. During my undergraduate career I worked in senior care (5 years), and while my current position is rewarding- I truly miss being a caregiver. Being a caregiver allows you to know individuals on a deep and intimate level while helping them and their families transition during a very challenging time. I am compassionate and patient with my residents and all I care for. I grew up in nursing homes (my mother has always been director of nursing) so I am comfortable with elderly patients. I always have the best interest of those who I help in mind and I am very easy to communicate with. I am trustworthy and would never take advantage of anyone's illness.

I became a caregiver when my grandfather passed away in 2018. When my grandfather got sick he asked me to assist him in getting a drink of water and I couldn't help him because I didn't know what I was doing. After his passing I just knew that being a caregiver is what I wanted too do. Maybe just maybe if I knew what I was doing when my grandfather was still alive I could of bought us some more time. I love what I do. Just being able too help someone to be and do the best they can is a great feeling. Being able too just put a smile on someone's face or be the listening ear they've needed for so long. I bring a positive attitude, hard work and determination to get my job done!
