I am a caring and compassionate person. I am patient and kind. I grew up volunteering at the nursing home my mother worked at. I enjoyed getting to know people and hearing their histories. Taking care of my grandmother with Alzheimer's disease taught me patience and sparked an interest in how the mind works. It is vital to know that clients are people trying to have the best quality of life possible. It is a privilege to be the person helping someone to maintain their dignity. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver would be the ability to make the person I take care of feel as independent and happy as possible. To help someone maintain as much function as possible or even improve their daily functioning is an uplifting experience. A personal achievement that I am proud of would be when working with hospice patients, I was able to make their transition comfortable and peaceful.
