I am 40 years old. I was an LPN for 19 years. I have been a personal caregiver for the past 3 years. In my nursing career I have worked in nursing homes and in a critical care hospital. I enjoyed both very much but my heart is in geriatric care. I have specialized in caring for dementia patients for the majority of my career. I love taking care of people and take great pride in my work. I have learned a lot while working in the healthcare field but my favorite thing about this work is that you continue to learn new things every day. Each person I care for is different and original in the things they like and dislike and getting to know them is key to being the best caregiver I can be. No matter what I learned in school the best education I could ever get comes from getting to know each one individually and having the opportunity to work with them.

I first became a care giver in 2018 and did all the training at my community college. I worked at carteret Landing to get some experience and now I'm looking for a home care position to help out families. I worked in a memory care unit and have experience with all types of elderly, some had dementia, schizophrenia, anything else you name it. I've always had outstanding results with all my residents and they grew very close to me.

I think what makes me a great caregiver is my passion to help others. I have the gift of foreseeing the needs of others and responding with the right course of action to those needs. I became interested in caregiving when I was met with the need to help my mother with my grandmother while my mother worked to support my other siblings. I get great satisfaction in knowing that I can provide a much needed service to our most valuable persons. I am proud to say that because of my caring nature, I have received recommendations from 2 doctors during my 30 plus years of service.
