I remember my mom and dad's words of wisdom. Your character is like your shadow, it never goes away, but you can do better with positive example. Physical and emotional pain leads to negativity, rejection and anger, a little bit of kindness and empathy revised the action to normalcy. no one is perfect, but don't give up on doing your best to being perfect. Remind yourself everyday that others are as special and unique like you, regardless of their condition and be kind. Then you'll feel the joy of gratitude .
