What makes me a great caregiver is that I pay attention to details. I do exactly what I'm told, asked and also give advice according to my expertise and I tell the truth about what is needed when it matters. I first started working with elders within my monastery taking care of their basic needs and taking them back and forth to doctor's appointments and following their doctors care of plan. That transmitted to my professional work life as a certified nursing aide, as I work in the nursing homes and also in private home settings. It brings me joy to see those who are in need of help receive the assistance that they need without taking away their dignity and also giving them the extra help that's necessary.... at the same time allowing them to do what they can for themselves. I have a broad range going from helping those with terminal illnesses all the way to those who just need extra assistance around the house. There is no job too big or too small for me to do.

I fully believe we all have a calling in life. This happens to be mine. I've been a certified nurses aide since I was 18 years old. I've worked with all facets in which the job could entail. Private and in house facilities. Dementia/Alzheimer's - the blanket of it and it's branches, quad and paraplegic inflicted folks. Colostomy care as well as wound care. The list goes on. However, whatever the aliment, or the the age, we are all people, with feelings and tempers and day to day challenges. Sitting down with someone, hearing stories about their loves and accomplishments, simply giving them time and attention is what I see is most important. The smiles, hugs and love make my job worth it each and every day. I would be happy to sit down and meet you, your family and loved one and see if I am the right fit to help them carry on, when sometimes life seems like it's taking simple tasks away from them and comfort and ease them into a new chapter. I have been a caregiver for a few years now. In those few years, i have learned valuable lessons that will stay with me forever. Lessons taught by other staff or a patient. They can't teach you everything in a classroom, you have to learn somethings hands on, and those are the lessons I will never forget. Hi iam Consuela I'm a PCA with my certification, Iam 40 years old I have 20 years exsprience in health care. Iam CPR certified. I have worked for wilcare when I first became a PCA, from there I worked for Sullivan county long term then went in to new hope commnity where I became a direct support professional working with individuals with intellectual disabilities of all phases my exsprience as they all are related in some way were to perform activities of daily living administird medication to 12 individuals, along with that prepared or prepped meals accordingly to the meal plan bathed, dressed and leisure accompanied to dr apts.
