Hi my name is Traci and I've been a caregiver for the elderly and disabled for over 20 years. I've had other jobs but I'm always drawn back to the elderly. I enjoy sitting and chatting with them, they're so full of information..... Like walking dictionaries! Being a caregiver is something that comes natural to me. As a young girl I watched my mom care for our elderly relatives and neighbors. I was always happy to assist her with helping others who couldn't help themselves. I enjoy showing great companionship to my patients. I love listening to their life stories, it helps me with getting to know and understand them. I treat patients how I would want someone to treat me or my loved ones if we were in the condition. The best reward I get from being a caregiver is knowing that I was able to help give someone a better quality of life because they're no longer able to do it on their own. HELLO! My career as a caregiver started with a chronically ill father. Throughout my childhood and in my early teens my dad was very ill with diabetes Type 1. When I was 5 years old my dad lost his eyesight. As a preteen I participated in his care helping with blood sugar readings and Insulin injections. When I was able to drive I help out by taking him to doctor's appointments. I went away to college and lived in Florida for a few years and as my dad became progressively worse I moved home.
