I have over 28 years of caregiving experience and a heart for others. Especially those that reach a place in life, where care becomes needed. Part of my overall caregiving experience includes: Handicapped care, dementia, Alzheimer's & memory challenged clients. I am a naturally caring person, who was raised by my grandparents, so I love and understand the elderly. I love hearing the stories of the past. I love getting to know the families and people involved in their lives. People are important and every person has value and a story to tell! I helped to take care of my grandmother as she was aging and I look back on that time w fond memories. Helping others stay in their home. Making someones life just a little bit easier can have great rewards. I took religion is college, of which I have 3 yrs. I have raised two children, and have been involved in my church over the years. I am now helping to raise two of my grandchildren which I adore! I am faithful and loyal, kind and gentle to others. I am honest and trustworthy.I love gardening, my grandchildren, and nature and all animals, especially cats and horses. In my younger years I was a CNA for about 10 years. Then helped my husband in the restaurant business for quite a few years, then went into janitorial at Hood River High Sch for awhile. I now have an additional 7 yrs (?) in caring for others. I love people! Now that I am a little older, I am enjoying taking care of the elderly and have a good understanding for what they need. I have been doing so for a number (10?) of years. I am a pretty easy going person to wk with.

Hello, I'm Laura. I'm very outgoing and relate well to just about anyone. I have excellent communication skills. I take my job seriously, am reliable, on time and go above and beyond the call of duty. I was asked to care for a friend's aging mom years ago and discovered I REALLY enjoyed it. I'm just naturally a caregiver, so taking on this role comes very easily for me. I also have three teenagers (17 year old twins and a 19 year old in college). I still "take care" of them, although they are pretty independent at this stage of their lives. I have experience with a wide variety of clientele. I have a lot of experience with dementia, however. I enjoy learning and take direction well, so I'm not afraid to walk into a novel situation. I'm blessed with a lot of patience. I've had someone ask me why I'm a caregiver because I have a Masters in Social Work. The truth is because I really enjoy it. I like to be hands on and in the trenches, as they say.

Hello, My family, friends and co-workers know me as a caring, positive person who tries to find logical solutions to daily problems. I have always been a helper- whether it's assisting an elderly neighbor or taking care of neighborhood children. I like figuring out how to make a person's wish a reality- going for a country drive, cooking a favorite meal, making a craft or enjoying the arts. I find satisfaction in a job well done, and it's important to me to make sure I fully understand a client's physical and emotional needs. One thing I'm most proud of was being a caregiver to a client who ultimately passed away in 2007. He had been institutionalized and heavily medicated for most of his adult life before being placed in a group home situation. He was nonverbal and had cognitive and physical disabilities. I was proud to be on the team that helped him develop strategies for his PTSD, provided calming routines that reassured him, and figuring out his likes/dislikes and wishes. Ultimately he was able to travel to Disneyland and Hawaii, go camping, shop at his favorite stores, have clothing altered to accommodate his short stature and receive help in creating photo albums and keepsakes. Caregiving can be a difficult job, but I am grateful for the amazing people and experiences.

I became a caregiver because I enjoy meeting new people and I strive to be the person that I would want taking care of my family members. I am very patient, understanding, outgoing, positive, encouraging and fun. I've had very positive outcomes with my clients and have watched them overcome obstacles they've been working on. I always try to get clients to see the positives they have going for them and point out that no matter what the issue is, they can overcome and go far beyond the distance. Where there's a will, there's a way~and a way to find the will!!!
