I have been a caregiver for over 30 years. I ran and operated a state licensed daycare for 17 years. Upon closing my business I went to school for my CNA. I really enjoy my profession because I like helping people. My experience is vast from in home care to facilities to hospice care. References can be supplied for I have been with some families for years. Enjoying taking people out and about to appointments or for a lunch or for a ride can be quite nice for the patient. Having a lot of compassion and empathy for this job and for the people I help.

What makes me a great caregiver? Excellent question. I am very very respectful, even if an elderly person is becoming frail and/or senile, it's important to remember that they are a person with a lot of experience, and a person who was once able to stand on their own two feet. I am also very empathetic; Ageing can be a confusing and difficult process for some older people, as tasks they used to find simple become a challenge that needs to be overcome. I am also very very reliable. What attracted me to being a caregiver? I enjoy working with people and most enjoy jobs where you have one-on-one interaction with others. I enjoyed taking care of elder family members and would like to help others in this way. I like older adults and feel you can get along well with a variety of elders. I doing work that has the potential to make a difference in someone's life. I like doing a variety of tasks in a day. I don't ever say, "that's not my job" but instead like pitching in to do whatever is needed. I like making someone smile and doing little things to make a person's day better. I take pride in your attention to detail. I don't want a desk job; you like being physical in your job and using your body as well as your brain. I am seeking a career with growing opportunities. I don't want to invest in many years of formal education but you are willing to learn new skills and take continuing education to do your job well. I feel that when you are older, I'd want someone like myself there to help me if I need help. What do I enjoy most about being a caregiver? I think just meeting peoples' needs. Sometimes it's not a glamorous job but you leave and the people feel like they have been treated with dignity. Their needs are met, they're comfortable or as comfortable as you can help them become. It's a very important thing for me. Not that it has to be glamorous, but just their smiles. It's just a very rewarding thing.

I have a lot of compassion for our Older adults.love listening to their stories! They are very wise people that we can learn from! I find it very sad that they have to leave their home and go to a Facility where they don't have one on one attention! They do much better in their homes because it's what they really want! I prefer taking Care of one person who I can give a lot of attention to Rather than 20 in a facility.

Hello! My name is Deneen. I grew up on Riverside Drive in New York City. I moved to Roscoe, NY in the 1980s and raised a beautiful family. I believe that in order to be great at what you do, you actually should have an interest, love or strong work ethic pertaining to your field of interest. Providing care for the individuals that I have worked for and those that needed care has always been a great joy for me, just seeing the smiles on their faces is so heartwarming. This is just one of the things that let me know that they feel that I'm doing my very best in providing their daily care.

I have recently retired from nursing in acute care settings after almost 40 years. One of my favorite jobs that I had when I was younger was doing private dity. I would very much like to repeat that experience in your home, or in the home of your loved one.
