What makes me a great caregiver is my bubbly personality and my willingness work! I became a caregiver when I was 19 because I grew up watching my mother and listening to how proud the job made her. I wanted a rewarding career like that so i went for it. I have achieved a lot in my 9 years as a caregiver and i am most proud of the diverse capabilities and experience i have in the medical field!

I began my study in the science of nursing, applied myself academically, received scholarships and graduated with honors because I wanted a good job with the opportunity for growth and advancement. This is the statement many people use in the cover letter of a resume without understanding what it really means. During my tours of duty I had the pleasure of working with a diverse population of people who taught me everything I know today. I learned to listen, be prudent, patient, empathetic and humble, and build trusting relationships. I didn't learn this from professors in college, instructors during clinical rotations, nor preceptors who oriented me to a new health care position. I learned from our seniors who struggle with dementia, our children who struggle with genetic disease syndrome, and our family, friends and neighbors who struggle with mental illness. I have been blessed with the opportunity to work in the areas of geriatric, pediatric, and behavioral health nursing. The people in my care revealed to me without saying a word that the good job with the opportunity for growth and advancement that I was looking for was with me the whole time. I was the good job that needed to be done, and I have people like your loved ones to thank for that. Early in my career as a registered nurse I decided to focus on home care because it was depressing to be surrounded by sick people who had to wait for pain medication, and help with meals, bathing, grooming, and toileting, and I couldn't help all of them. Home care affords me the time to focus on my actual employer's business at hand. That is your loved one's needs and concerns. In a skilled nursing facility I got to meet and take care of so many amazing people. People who were long term ended up like a second family, even ones who were short term ended up like family and got treated as such. I pride myself in giving the best care I possibly can while respecting each of my residents as an individual person, learning their likes and dislikes, and respecting their opinions. I have always had a nack for wanting take care of people my family always told me I was a old kind hearted soul. I am willing to help anyone I can young or old. I'm passionate at what I do I look at it as no one wants to be sick mentally or physically. I am lucky enough to be healthy so why not help others who need help helping there selves. If it wasn't for the people I have crossed paths with that I had the opportunity to take care I would have not wanted to go on to be a nurse. I know I'm doing something right when the people I have taken care of tell me I'm so glad I have you or are you going to be my aide tomorrow? I love you. Don't leave. An it breaks my heart. A. If reason why I want one on one Care cause in these nursing facilities I don't get a chance to be with the people as much as I'd like to really get that care they need. I want to be able to feel good about what I do an not guilty because I had 15 people An could only do so much by myself .
