I have been a CNA for 30 +years. Ten or more of those years as a Caregiver, also. I have experience in long-term and short-term care. I have training in home health, hospice, palliative care, private sitter, and companion care. I work as a attendant now with At Home Healthcare, United Healthcare and a Diamond Professional Caregiver with CareLinx. I've taken the academy classes with CareLinx so I could refresh my skills. I have passed my background screening and I am CPR certified, too. I enjoy working with seniors because some of them have lived some adventurous lives. My greatest achievement is making a difference in their lives and they tell you so. When your day is over you know you have done your best. You can look up and smile.

I'm a very upfront outgoing person. I've been a Certified Nurse Assistant since I was 18 yrs old. I was helping my Mom out with my Dad during his battle with lung cancer. I enjoyed giving my Dad one on one care. I cared for him while my Mother was at work. Allowing him to be comfortable in his own home. After he passed I went on to take the CNA, CMA, Phlebotomy class at Kilgore College. I enjoyed mostly the one on one time spent with my patients. Getting to know them. I've worked in Long term care facilities. Prisons, Home healths, Assisted living homes. I mostly enjoy going into the homes as a Companion. Just giving somebody the option of staying home. Helping them with all daily living routines. Allowing them to still stay active. Giving them respect, dignity. Also giving them all my attention.

I love taking care of people like they are my own family, it's a job that I am passionate about. I was just accepted into the nursing program at Kilgore college and I am one step closer to my dream job.

I have been a caregiver off and on for over 25 years and I love what I do! I have been told I have a "old soul" and that I have a special way of getting people to smile and feel comfortable. I got into this line of work after helping my mother care for my grandparents that both had Alzheimer's and Dementia. This work is very rewarding for me because I not only FEEL like I make a difference in my clients lives, but, it also shows by the smiles on the faces of them and their families. I not only assist with daily living activities and house keeping, but I also provide companionship and support. I have the ability to fit in just like a member of the family most times and it is very important to me that my clients feel respected and safe and loved. Each day will begin with a huge smile and a quick sit down visit and conversation that hopefully includes some laughs and more smiles and when the day is done I will give a round of hugs and more smiles until my next visit. Noone should ever be made to feel embarrassed or afraid especially by the people that they are trusting to provide them with care and that is one of the most important reasons I have for being in this profession.

What makes me a great caregiver is that it started with my mother who had breast Cancer and being the oldest I cared for my mother. I love cooking for my clients and being a good listener, and attending to their personal needs.
