After a massive Corporate downsizing, I have changed careers and turned to the Healthcare field. I have over 30 years experience taking care of family and clients, ranging from neonatal, special needs including quadriplegia, to hospice care. The last 20 years have also included dementia/stroke, oxygen, TPN, feeding tubes and post operative care. In addition, I have also been asked by 2 clients to become their personal assistant. This included travel to the grocery store, doctor appointments, downsizing homes, moving packing and unpacking, traveling across country and also property managed my clients home while it was on the market to sell. How can I be of help to you?

I have been a caregiver in some respects since 1981, when I had the first of my five children! I earned CNA licensure in 1993 or so, and worked in the hospital setting in various departments. I have spent the last 17 years in another form of caregiving -- that is, teaching Spanish in public high school , tutoring, and in industry. I have been taking care of people for 11 years and enjoy the time I get to spend with them. Their wisdom and stories always intrigue me. I worked for a Healthcare for four years providing help with activities of daily living. Most recently I have been caring for a 94 years young Alzheimer patient and have been with her for 4 years now in Geneva, Illinois. I provide companionship and home care for her. She needs grooming and meal preparations, as well as medication management. I also take care of a woman in her 93 years young with dementia. I provide the same to her as well. I have a Parkinson patient whom is 82 years old. In Dekalb Illinois. She is total care and is need of everything done for her. I also cared for a cancer patient for 2 1/2 years. I lost him in October of 2010. He wasn't just my employer but became a part of my family. I hope to be a part of someone else's soon. I am hoping to be moving to Raleigh NC in the next six months to find new opportunities and adventures with my daughter and fiance. Hope to talk with new families soon

I am a very loving and carom person who loves helping with the elderly community. I prefer 12 hour shifts . I am very reliable and I hardly ever call and say I won't make it I treat every person I help take care of as if they where my own grandparents.

I decided to work get my CNA certification after visiting my Grandma in a nursing home, I knew I wanted to help other elderly men and women with their Activities of daily living I wanted to show them I cared. I enjoy listening to their life stories and all the changes they have seen and lived through.I like to share these stories with other people and children as things come up in a conversation. I have learned many new things from working with Seniors and I have used many of their ideas in my life from cooking to raising children and house cleaning ideas. I am currently enrolled in a community college I plan on studying Phlebotomy, I have always taken courses over the years in continuing education and prerequisites to AAS.
