The reason I became a caregiver is because helping people is my greatest attribute. I'm an outgoing young lady, gifted with the ability to make connections with people. Growing up I have always been very interested in helping people for their daily living. I am kind, gentle, and very compassionate person. What attracted me to being a caregiver was generally to help people and advocate for people. What enjoy most about being a caregiver is to be able help people in their sickness and you see how their health improves. Hello! My name is Lori. I am a mother of 4 (almost grown) children, and a daughter of one elderly parent. I have been a Physical Therapist Asst. for 29 years. My mother suddenly passed in 2017. My father has severe dementia, and in her absence, there existed a need for someone to care for him. I fulfilled this role for some time, until the inevitable, appropriate time came for me to return to my family and life back here in Missouri. I personally experienced the process of seeking a suitable caregiver for my father, to help maintain the lifestyle that he had always known. I didn't think that it should be difficult to find this person (people). But, it was, especially in a small rural KS town, considering the financial resources available. I discovered a passion for in-home caregiving. I have been blessed to be able to continue caregiving since that time, and have worked with several wonderful families. I am reliable, competent and compassionate. It is my desire to continue caring for those in need.

What makes me a great caregiver I think caring, patience, listening. Why I became a caregiver, I worked at a nursing home as an NA the resident would ask for help, I would tell him I could not help . Nope I never liked my answer so I signed up for CNA class and became a CNA. What I like about being a caregiver? Helping when they ask for help I can help them. My Personal Achievement I'm proud of . I became a caregiver because for one I have a visually impaired daughter who is almost blind and I grew up with my brother who the new hip socket was Barbinos soffit guess and my mother was a CNA/CMT my sisters a pharmacy tech and I volunteered for three summers in a row when I was younger at the Veterans Affairs hospital so it's kind of in my blood and I love and enjoy helping people.
