I have always been the caregiver in my family from my grandmother who suffered a heart attack when I was 11 up to 2016 when my mother-in-law became ill with Parkinson's. It gives me a sense of fulfillment when I make my clients smile...whether it is from cooking their favorite meal or just listening to their life stories. Since I have trained in two different modern health facilities, I am very aware of what to watch for to prevent medical emergencies. My previous clients' families have nicknamed me "Angel" because I always want to make their stressed lives easier...and to create an environment where they can ENJOY being with their loved ones again. I am proud that I am very close to obtaining my CNA license (taking the Oklahoma State Exam in August), having taken 16+ senior homecare courses and training with the very best homecare agencies. Hello! My name is Krystal! I am 27, I have two children! I have been a caregiver since childhood, it just came natural. My uncle was handicapped, and a slight medical miracle, his continuing life surprising us every day. I spent my childhood taking care of him with family. At age 6, my cousin was in a car accident and left a quadriplegic with a severe wound in his stomach that required a wound vac, a halo, and several tubes and IV's. Carefully, I always helped with almost all of his care needed. My mother managed the Alzheimer's unit in a nursing home, I spent almost every day there after school. My passion only grew. I started CNA classes in 2010 in high school, finished in 2012 and started work in my local nursing home soon after. I've continued to work my way up, and had dreams of being a pediatric surgeon, but my children and seeing them grow up was more important than my career. I need to be here for all of their small moments. I've been working from home lately, and while I feel my current job does have a purpose, I would love to be back out there, actually caring for my people face to face. I miss the interactions and connections I build with them and their families.

Well, back in 2007, my grandfather was in a hospice care facility, when things became too difficult for him to move, do activities and even speak, it was hard to comprehend the situation our family was going through, but before his last days, him, he would mentiom the staff who were helping him get through the painful process of his final days, they were helpful, kind, and spend quality time with him, making his journey a little bit easier, we would hear stories from caregivers who would tell us things my grandfather would speak of and gave us clarity that he was in good care, we thanked them, they became a big part of our family for many years, it is why I wanted to be a caregiver, to help families who cant be there for there loved ones because of there jobs or any reason for that matter, I made friends from families I helped get through tough situations, it doesnt get any easier to be honest, but it only makes this job only more fulfilling knowing that there are people who not only the care we provide, but to spend quality time that I wish I wouldve gotten the time with my grandfather

What makes me a good caregiver, is that I will always put my patients first. I'm caring, loving, patient, and I always be there for them when they need me. What attracts me I'm being a caregiver is because I love doing it. I fell in love with that helping my grandma when I would go visit in Texas. It is what got me into pre nursing school in high school and then I became a CNA and worked at a nursing home and I loved my patients. If they needed something I would make sure to get it if something would make them happier or smile I would go the extra mile for them.
