I was born to a very large family,15 children to be exact,we were taught to care for one another,and when I was 13 years old,my grandmother came to live with us, because she could no longer safely care for herself and her home,,my mother,my sister and myself,done all the things you would do for an infant and cared for her until her death,I believe in doing so,I learned compassion and the skill of helping people, when the time or circumstance,comes that a person can no longer do life on there own,and I just love people,I wish more people had the heart to serve others.

My mother raised three children alone,pretty much.I was the oldest and cared for my two brothers,chores etc. while my mother worked.My youngest brother was born with bone dease in legs,hips,he had to have several hip replacements etc. I took care of him and a couple more family members as time went by.I just honestly think that a caregiver is who I am.I first started in 1989 in a Nursing Home worked there couple year's.Then I worked at the hospital and I have now done 6 years of private duty,homehealth .I have always been some what parcel to Elderly.

I became an caregiver because I love to help people. Everyday is something new, its never the same. In my past I have had many jobs in the industrial field and realized that through performing routine tasks there is a larger scale product involved. Each task must be done with quality in order to serve the company as a whole. All of the parts come together in order to make a whole. I see this when I serve a patient as well. Even though I may just be a tech, I realize that my job is just as important as everyone on the nursing team. If I don’t perform efficiently or diligently it effects not only my patients, but the team as a whole suffers. During my CNA classes I learned that providing quality care was a vital part of improving and maintaining optimal health. I have had some private care jobs where I worked as a unlicensed tech and during my time doing this I realized the joy I can bring to others as well as the joy it gives me to serve those whom have provided a path for me to embrace my goals.
