I first thought about becoming a CNA when my grandfather was diagnosed with a terminal illness similar to Parkinson's. Hospice came into our home to care for him when it became too much for us to handle on our own. They were very helpful, and provided him with not only care, but also companionship. Seeing the difference that they made not only for my grandfather, but also for me and the rest of my family, that is what made me want to get into healthcare. I believe that is what makes me a great caregiver. I think about each of my patients as if they are my own family. And if they were, I would want only the best care for them. That is why I always strive to do the absolute best I can to care for my patients.
