Hi! My name is Katherine, but you can call me Kat or Katie if you prefer! I've been doing caregiving/ hospice care for more than 5 years. I love being able to provide an atmosphere of hospitality and becoming close with the people I take care of. I started doing this profession when my sister was dying of cancer, I took care of her every day during her final days. What I loved about doing that, is feeling needed. She relied on me for everything, to be her comfort, to wash her hair, to make her laugh and smile. From sharing childhood memories and jokes, I knew this is what I wanted to do with my life after she passed and I did! I am so glad you have chosen me to care for yourself or a loved one. I promise to always make them feel special and meet every expectation they need.

I am compassionate and patient, and a care-oriented person, as I have a high level of empathy and training as a Psychologist from Venezuela, I was trained to care for the elderly. I love to support other people to feel better and they have a more functional life.

I'm very much a people person & highly empathetic. I knew I wanted to be a caretaker/Nurse since high school working as a volunteer in local hospital. I come from a family of caretakers so it's in my genetics. I've done many aspects of caregiving from rooming patients in local clinic to skilled unit in nursing facility & Alzheimer's unit. I love geriatric care due to the respect I have for the elderly. They've earned it for surviving through hardships I've only read about & learned in history class, which brings me to the fact that they have the best stories to tell if able to. I take pride in my care & the bigger the challenge it is with not so happy clients/patients I manage to get them to open up a bit & do my best to turn there frown upside down raising there spirits up. I welcome new challenges & learning about something new especially if it helps my care towards my patient. Dementia/Alzheimer's care is my specialty.

Why did I become a Caregiver? I have been gifted with Compassion and Empathy. My diverse life experiences have allowed me to care for people with Dignity and Grace. I see those I care for as a whole person not Just their disease, disability or situation. During my hands on experience in Group Homes, One on One companionship, Private CNA Caregiver, Nursing Home and Nanny experience. I have acquired many skills and tools that have allowed me to care for others with dignity and grace. Despite their dementia, schizophrenia, autism, Asperger's, or mental illness. The Individuals I care for celebrate this person-centered care. I see and respect them as the most important person in my Now. A personal achievement I am proud of is my Patience, Love and Understanding. My ability to adapt quickly. I moved to Florida three summers ago from Minnesota. I have yet to get used to the Florida summers. However, I do enjoy and embrace the Flora, Foliage and Fauna. I see something new everyday. My new favorite Florida bird is the Painted Bunting. I love living Life on Life's Terms. What a Beautiful Gift.

I do have a CNA license. However I don't feel comfortable releasing the number online. I like being a caregiver mainly because I believe empathy is key to enjoying life. I have seen so much in the years I have been at the nursing home, everyone needs empathy and I hope with every encounter I have- even outside of work that I show that.
