In 2020, I moved backed to my hometown after living in Mexico for three years where I taught English as a Foreign language. At this time, I was asked by my family to become my grandfather's caregiver after he was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy. My grandfather has had a series of health complications within the last two years ranging from Mild Cognitive Impairment, diabetes, loss of mobility due to a fall, prostate cancer and a mini stroke. All of these have given me an abundance of knowledge on care directives and strategies to improve overall quality of life. My time providing care for my grandfather has brought back my passion for working as a Caregiver again. As I am a highly empathetic, patient and nurturing individual with experience, I am confident that I can succeed as a Caregiver for your loved one. After that I noticed I enjoyed caring for the elderly and spending time with them. I love listening to their stories and learning from their experiences. I see them and treat them as my family. I like to help them get the best quality of life under their circumstances. I feel a sense of accomplishment every time it's time for me to leave their house and they have a smile on their faces. Hi, I'm Shawna, \"What makes me a great caregiver?\" I've raised six amazing children as a single mother and after 20 years of helping people feel good about themselves in the beauty industry, I took on the role of my 92 year old grandmother's caregiver. I cared for her for two years and I feel I've found my calling. I am, by nature, a very nurturing person so I'm in my element as a caregiver. I have excellent work ethics, I'm organized and very easy to get along with. I have a great respect for the elderly because they have paved the way for me and my children.
