I became a caregiver over 15 years ago. It has always been my passion in life to help others in any way I can. I would say I am definitely a people person. Very motivated, determined and confident. Hello! As you are reading this, I hope you are in great spirit. Being in peace and happiness is very important to me. I find solace in helping others that may not be able to help themselves. We both are receiving goodness in that moment. I have always been a caregiver. As a young teenager and the oldest of three siblings, I helped my Mother continuously with caregiving for my siblings. She is very proud of the help I assisted her with to this day. As an adult, I have assisted in taking care of my husband's family members, my grandparents and of course my own children (25, 18, 11 and 8 years old). I am a licensed Realtor by trade. However, I am lead to do more to help those who cannot help themselves. I currently volunteer as a board member on the Hawkinsville Pulaski County Arts Council (HPCAC ) and the Hawkinsville Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce, in which we serve the community. Caregiving fits right into the category of service. My most proud personal achievement is the manner in which I serve my family and others in my circle and community. I started out as a caregiver 5 yrs. ago and I enjoyed every moment of it. I love one on one care with clients and getting to know them for who they are. I believe in treating people with respect and like they were my own sibling. I have a heart for helping people and making sure they are taken care of properly. I became a Cna in 2000. At first I wanted to become a caregiver just to say I followed in my mother's footsteps but after I became certified I actually feel in love with the job. Your heart really has to be in this to be the best caregiver you can be. I love being able to help and assist people that can no longer do everything for themselves and I look at them as I would my own family. I became a caregiver because of the love and the relationship that I have for people. I wanted to become a doctor but I had kids and the feeling and compassion for people did not go away so I enrolled in a CNA school and started working at the nursing home but I was spending to much time one on one with the patients at the nursing home and my manager told me that I needed to stop spending so much time in those rooms and my heart and feeling for the patients was so strong that has they got sicker or passed away I found my self sad so I left the nursing home. One of the patients daughters asked about me and they gave her my number and she called and I explain to her the reason I left and she asked me would I consider going to the nursing home to take her of her mother for a couple of months until she was able to. I said yes and that is how I got started doing one on one care. I love one on one care because it gives me the opportunity to know the person and give them individual care. What I like about being a caregiver is making a difference in the client lives and their family. I am proud of raising 3 boys who went to college and are very successful and respectful to this world. I love to talk and do for others. I am a creator, I am a doer and I love to be with people. Hi, my name is Carrie Coker and I am 23 years old. I currently live in Cochran, Ga with my fiance and daughter. I have 2 stepchildren that I call mine as well. I have been doing caregiver work ever since my daughter was a year old she is now almost 5. I was 19 when I got my first caregiving job at Rescare in Eastman, Ga. What is now called AllWaysCaring Homecare. I worked for Rescare for almost a year and I worked with them when the name changed also few a brief few months. I then have had certain warehouse jobs. I also currently clean houses for people. I am now at a warehouse called Gilmer in Cochran, where I pack chips for FritoLay. I have always had a passion for caregiving. I always wanted to go to school to get my nursing degree, but life has gotten in the way right now for that. I am CPR and First Aid certified through the American Red Cross. I love cleaning as I do at my own home. I love caring for clients. It makes me feel at home knowing I can help care for someone in need. I just recently a year ago now on this past thanksgiving day, lost my papa who was deathly sick and February will be a year I lost my grandma. She was like my second mother and I always helped her take care of things like her bills and ran her errands and would help remind her to take her meds and insulin. I have a handicap brother who is 19 and is wheel chair bound. I have helped take care of him since I was 12. I am so happy to know I have always helped my grandma and brother as much as I can. I know my grandma is proud of me.
