I have over 10 years of caregiver experience. I started off as a caregiver to make extra money then I fell in love with the job and the people I care for. Now I'm a full-time caregiver going to school to open my very own elderly day center.

I enjoy working with people and most enjoy jobs where i have one-on-one interaction with others. I enjoyed taking care of elder family members and would like to help others in this way. I like older adults and feel i can get along well with a variety of elders. I like doing work that has the potential to make a difference in someone's life. I like doing a variety of tasks in a day. I don't ever say, "that's not my job" but instead like pitching in to do whatever is needed. I like making someone smile and doing little things to make a person's day better. I take pride in your attention to detail. I don't want a desk job; I like being physical in my job and using my body as well as my brain.

Summer Update [?]: I am free and available for the entire summer until day after Labor Day, in which afterwards, I go back to my schedule below. After Labor Day Availability: I am available late evenings, overnight til 4am w/sleep, & some weekends can be negotiated. What makes me a great caregiver is my patience and ability to take the lead to discern when a situation needs action or not. I have had many clients whose demands were very different but I adjusted right away bc I do understand the need for each person to have dignity and still feel as though they have a level of independence. I have serviced those as young as 38 with terminal cancer to those who were a mature age of 88 with heart, mobility, and respiratory issues, dementia, Alzheimer's, and bed-ritten, so I am well-rounded. I am a mother of 2 boys now young men and I am married but I have still devoted countless hours for my clients, even living in with them 24/7 and working 12 to 24 hour days, 7 days a week. I do not mind at all. I am gracious and love people too much. I will be a promising catch.

I always practice patience. I believe people who need care are a blessing to me. I enjoy finding ways to show kindness. I believe compassion, empathy and understanding are absolutely necessary in life. I welcome humor because laughter is good medication. Being Present and detail oriented are qualifications I take pride in. I work well with other professionals. I'm open to help when needed. I am always willing to set healthy boundaries. My personality traits that would help me be a great caregiver would be compassion, patience, and dependability. I would treat my residents as if they were my own family members. What attracted me to being a caregiver would be liking to help others and taking care of my elderly family members. Clients realize I'm their priority I'm there to help with DAL's while allowing them to be in charge. After my assistance with bathing and grooming the client easily picks out clothing for the day ahead. I prepare meals and remind clients to take medication if needed. I make sure a nutritious breakfast is served . They love reminders of family. Viewing family pictures and things in their home that makes it a home again. Clients love when we go for walks to get exercise rather in a wheel chair or walker. Range of motion exercises helps keep the body moving and agile. I'm just their to make them sure of themselves again.
