I became a caregiver when my mother became really ill. I took care of her and took her to her doctors appointments and gave her all her medicines. I stayed with her for 19 days until she passed away. I also did the same for my mother in law until she passed. Now I am taking care of my 85 yr old father which has hypertension, diabetes, and dementia. I went to practical nursing school and received my diploma, but did not pass my test to receive my license. I am CPR certified, as well as a CNA. I love to take care of elderly people. I love to sit and talk with them. I love to encourage them to eat all their food. I connect very well with the elderly and they connect with me. I am very loving and understanding and patience. I was the oldest in my nursing program. I had 6 children that I raised on my own, working 2 jobs most of my life. I want to retake my nclex test so I can receive my license and become a LPN.

i have basically been taking care of people since i was a teen. my dad got sick when i was in high school and i took care of him, worked full time as well as went to school and looked after my younger sibling. as our mother past away when we where younger. i learned a lot about time management with having to do that as well as compassion, because even tho he was my dad he was still a patient. after he passed away i was able to use what i learned to get in home sitter jobs for elderly adults at night and that led to working with mentally challenged adults in a group home like setting. from there i went to the hospital setting and learned the medical side of things a lot better. i did that so i could help my husband to take care of his parents who passed away last year. i just feel like the lord has given me a caregiver/servant heart and i want to use what he has given me to help as many as i can.
