I started my career of caregiving In 1983 where I provided in home care for an elderly lady for 18 months. In 1984 I worked for Minnesota DHS with developmentally disabled persons. In 1989 I began working for the Minnesota DOC until I retired in 2020. I love to help people achieve their goals and I really enjoy seeing people happy. I am currently teaching myself some wood working, furniture refinishing and some art.

Hello, my name is Jerry. I've been working as a certified HCA (caregiver) for 4 years. I am certified in the state of California. I recently relocated to Owatonna. Most of my experience is with dementia and hospice care. But I've worked in many different situations, Group homes, and floor coverage in memory care assisted living facilities. I've also worked with handicapped people and people with severe mental and physical developmental disabilities. ( I am also a certified DSP in CA), I have been thoroughly background-checked by each of the two agencies that I received most of my clients from. I have a completely clean record, and a clean driving record too. I love this job very much. I am reliable and honest, and I always have a very calm and friendly demeanor, which is why I work very well will elderly people. That's my favorite. But I am perfectly happy taking care of younger people too.

The personality traits I have as a caregiver are that I'm always willing to do what is best for the client and being understanding of what they are going through and what they need from me. I was attracted to being a caregiver mostly because I've been taking care of others for almost 4 years now and really enjoy it. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is being able to help any way that I can if that be with cares that they need help doing or just listening as many clients just like to have someone to talk with. A personal achievement I'm proud of is graduating from college with a certificate in healthcare and hopefully continuing to do something more in healthcare one day.

I have always had a passion for Caregiving. I enjoy helping others and find a sense of rewardment and pride in what I do. My biggest personal achivement has been my Registered Nursing degree. I am just taking time to study for my boards. I grew up taking care of my elderly family memebers and knew from a young age I always wanted to be in heath care.

I received my CNA/ HHA certification and would like to pursue a position in the nursing/caregiving field. I am also certified in first aid and CPR. I have attended skills USA for 2 years and have competed in medical competitions with winning awards and scholarships.

We allow each patient to customize the care they are needing. We wearing many hats and are happy to assist with grocery shopping and errands in addition to health care and concerns. I became a caregiver in the beginning because I needed a job but quickly found that's really where my heart is. I wouldn't work in any other profession. Thru the years I have had the pleasure of getting to know and care for some pretty interesting people who have taught me so much! I treasure the time spent with each of my patients.
