My name is dawn. I am a 1-2 year experienced caregiver who loves helping others and providing companionship for everyday living. I have dealt with just about everything and about every kind of person in the book. I have always wanted to help others in some shape or form and I feel like caregiving gives the best independent help out there. The best thing about caregiving is helping. That's all I intend to do no matter the person or situation. I am very flexible and am open to hearing about your specific needs to always make you feel safe and comfortable. I would say my expertise of me being a caregiver is that I'm patient , kind & show respect to the client and their families. Providing quality care is my goal. What attracted me to being a caregiver is that I had the pleasure of help taking care of my great grandmother and my great great grandmother up until god called them home. I was the caregiver/caretaker for both of my parents. In the beginning, my mom had several, health issues. I thought at the time, I would get involve and take her to her doctors appointments and learn all I could to encourage and to better able to assist her, in living healthier. So we changed her diet and I helped her in preparing meals and other activities. Several years later, my mom was diagnosed with dementia. I didn't know then, the rolls of mother and daughter would change. For the next 18 years, I became her full-time caregiver. Although; it was extremely overwhelming at times, I knew no one would ever take care of mom like I would. Moreover; my personal achievement in taking care of her and preparing meals; she did not succumb to any of the complications of diabetes, which happens to many people with the disease. Although my dad didn't have as many health issues as my mom, he was older. He didn't have dementia and he lived to the age of 94. I'm dependable, patient and very compassionate. Hello my name is Alexis cook, I got into this field about 13 years ago with a dear friend of mines who has Ms , she was having a lot of difficulty adjusting to her new diagnosis and I was there for here throughout those times helping her to groom, cook, clean , and assist her with her day to day living.
