I have always been a caregiver, taking care of my grandparents, my aunt before she was transferred to a nursing facility. My aunt had numerous health issues. I also took care of my husband, he had two major surgeries last year, he had to learn to walk again. During the process of caring for my husband, I realized that I enjoy helping people and I resigned from law enforcement and I am currently working as a caregiver part-time for Comfort Keepers of Florence SC since November of last year. I love helping others. I'm very attentive to their needs and I have great patience. I know that one day I will get older and need help so I've decided to dedicate my time to the elderly while I still have time to do so. What I love most about being a caregiver is the fact that I'm able go gain knowledge through my client's and help them with their daily living activities. Often times my client's are able to confide in me because they have no one else. One personal achievement that I'm proud of is going back to school to further my knowledge in the health field. Growing up I spent a lot of time caring for my own family members. My grandmother had Alzheimer's, stopped walking and had Diabetes.I was able to give her the love she always gave me when she was able to. I also had other family members I cared for as well. That is what really got me started. Watching her kids and loved ones not want to care for her got me there. Everyone deserves to be cared for properly and carefully. I love knowing that at the end of the day I made someone's day easier or better. I know it is hard on families at times. You want to be there but may not be able to. So for me I am the fill in, the one who is there to ensure you are cared for and needs are met. I also am a mother and had a premature child. I love being a mom and wife and someone people can count on and trust. In life I have seen someone people go with love or care and that is partly what drives me to do the stuff I do today. It got me into hair, cooking and caring for others. There aren't enough people who care or have compassion for others this day in age. I wouldn't want myself, children or loved ones to be unloved or cared for.
