I knew I wanted to pursue a career in health care my senior year in high school when I volunteered as a classroom aide everyday after school 11am-2 p.m. working with children who had developmental disabilities. Hi my name is Brianna! I live in Rochester during the summer months and Cortland during the school year. I love being a caregiver because I love being able to make a impact on another person's life. I am very close to all of my clients and consider them family. I believe that being a caretaker is all about the small moments. Like when a client makes progress such as increasing their range of motion or achieving a goal. I became a caregiver almost 8 years ago. I started working in a dining room , serving residents food in a well known nursing home here in Rochester. It used to bother me hearing the residents ask me for assistance with the bathroom or transferring and I couldn't because I was not qualified to do so. So I then decided to take on this CNA training program. I enjoy putting a smile on the faces of those that I care for, enriching their lives everyday. They become family to me. I am very patient, hardworking and dedicated. I have a strong desire to care for people and work good with others. I communicate well with family members and other staff , trying to build positive relationships with them as well.

I enjoy doing PCA/HHA work. My mother did this kind of work when I was younger and I would shadow her. I took a career change and about three months ago. I used to do insurance applications for healthcare. I have changed career paths and currently going back to school for nursing. Becoming a personal care aide is such a rewarding career. Not every day is it going to be like that. I understand that. But knowing that I am helping someone or a family is so rewarding.
