I became a caregiver because one day as I was walking in Manhattan, I saw an elderly man was crossing the road, he needed help crossing because the traffic was too much for him to cross by himself so I took the opportunity in helping him to cross the road, it was then that I realized, I can take up this as a professional and that is when I became a HHA/caregiver. In 2008 .Being a caregiver is about having patience , something you can do for someone who is in need of assistance, its a blessing when caring for elderly. I became interested in the healthcare field while serving as a missionary in Guatemala where I worked with poor people living in the mountains, garbage dumps, and street children hooked on glue. Many times after serving I would come home crying because of the plight of the people I serve but I love reaching out to help others and served for four years. Here in New York City at one time I also worked with homeless people living in shelters and in the parks. I have worked in nursing homes in Florida and in homecare in New York City.
