I have more than 13 years of experience working (full time) with individuals with developmental disabilities. In group, private residential, community, and classroom settings. Also in transportation. I have been told that my compassion towards them is extremely apparent. I am there for the individuals 100%. For their health and well-being but also for their quality of life. I also believe that promoting as much independence as one can have. When I have worked one-to-one or in someone's home that was where I felt I could make the most difference. I became a care giver because i didn't like how the elderly was being treated and i wanted to make a difference. I worked a little in a hospital so I have some insight on taking care of people in that kind of setting I'm very familiar with residents who are full term in a nursing home, who have dementia, and also residents on a rehab unit recovering from falls at home causing them to break their hips, neck, back and more and trying to my best ability to make them comfortable. I've taken care of people who are actively dying and have terminal illnesses I guess it's safe to say it's what I know best is to take care of people. What I love the most about taking care of people is getting close to them like they're my own family I love my residents a lot. I earned my CNA when I was 18 and my passion for helping others grew.
