With a Psychology degree, I am able to communicate effectively with both the client as well as the client's family members. I offer compassion and understanding to each individual's family. I have a strong personality and am able to encourage my clients to allow me to help them with the services that are best for them even when they are reluctant. I am able to help them maintain their dignity and independence while assisting them with their every day tasks. I became a caregiver in 2016 when my company lost it's grants. I evaluated what other avenues were available to me to share my years of counseling experiences. I decided that as a home health care aid, I could help both the client themselves and their families. I also raise 4 children which my youngest does the same job as me. I am very proud of my children too. I have a husband that has a blood clot in his brainstem and he has mini strokes all the time. I take care of him when that happens too.

Even as a little girl I have always enjoyed helping people any way I could. I have always been drawn to the medical field in some way. I started as a PCA helping with medications, insulin, wound care, some personal care. I then became a CNA and have worked with many wonderful people. From helping with basic care needs, to being someone they could share company with. To full care needs. Dressing, dinning, bathing, physical therapy, helping transfer from sitting ro standing. Wheelchair to bed. I love being able to make someone smile in anyway I can.

I have worked in healthcare for over 20 years and enjoy caring for others and improving their quality of life. I am a Respiratory Therapist and have an Associates degree as a Medical Office Assistant. I also am a volunteer time with my local Volunteer Fire Department as the President, Captain of the K9 Search and Rescue Team as well as a K9 Handler and an EMT. I became interested in being a caregiver when I was a teenager when I took care of my Grandmother and saw the challenges she endured in her life as she aged. I also have a diploma in Canine Obedience trainer and Veterinary Assistance. I feel my greatest achievement is nationally certifying 2 different K9s at 3 levels of trailing to help locate lost and missing people.

To answer the first question, what makes me a great Caregiver? Ans. I do extra miles. Listen to the needs of a client. Have patuent & compassion and be supportive to the family. I am reliable, dependable, and very helpful. Iam honest & trustworthy. I am punctual, hardworking and responsible. Second question: Why did you become a caregiver? Ans. Because it is my passion to help others especially for seniors that really need help. Third question: What do you like about being a Caregiver? Ans. I like being a caregiver because I am able to help and take care of the seniors like my parents and make them happy. Fourth or last question: What is a personal achievement you are proud of? Ans. There is only one thing that I felt achieved in my job is to make my client happy of what I have done to them. For me, that is my greatest achievement.

Becoming a caregiver for me comes from a deep compassion to help others. Knowing that I can make a difference in someones day just from lending a hand, an ear, or a shoulder is enjoyable for me. I have been a certified nursing assistant for almost 12 years. I have seen and learned alot, I have been present for the best of times, and the worst. I love what I do so much that I went to college and obtained my associates degree in nursing!

I started caring for people since before I even could understand what it was. My little sister is severely autistic. I would help her with her activities of daily living everyday. When I got out of high school in 2010 I started working as an STNA in Ohio. I have worked in multiple nursing homes, home care agencies, group homes, and day programs. I can't say I have seen it all but I have seen a lot. I learn something new everyday and I love to learn. I have alot of experience from alzeimers and dementia to schizophrenia. Being a care giver gives me a great deal of purpose. Helping people gives me a sense of joy. One personal achievement I have made by myself would be starting as a care giver in a group home and got promoted to a site supervisor.

When I was born, my parents were older. So, I just grew up with older people around me all of the time. Later on, my mother got sick and I cared for her for 8 years until she died. My father then got Alzheimers and I cared for him. I've just naturally always been a caregiver.
