My personality traits to help be a great caregiver is, Patience, People who need care often take longer to complete simple tasks. They may ask the same questions over and over. Good caregivers need patience to deal with anything from a loved one's memory lapses to angry outbursts. They practice staying calm and avoiding frustration. Compassion, Empathy and understanding are absolutely necessary. Even when caring for an abusive person, caregivers try to remain empathetic and understanding. Being Present, Good caregivers know the importance of respecting their loved one's current abilities. Rather than focusing on what their loved one can no longer do, a good caregiver tries be in the moment with them -- looking at photos, listening to music, cooking a favorite meal, remembering that they weren't always sick. Willing to assist, Always being able to be able to willing to help and assist the patient with anything they need! What attracted me to be a caregiver is, my grandmother and also, I enjoy working with people and most enjoy jobs where you have one-on-one interaction with others. I enjoyed taking care of elder family members and would like to help others in this way. I love older adults and feel you can get along well with a variety of elders. I have been a caregiver since I was a teenager. My mom taught me to help others. This is my passion. I have three beautiful children of my own who I love dearly. My daughter is a heart patient and I care for her when she needs me. My oldest son has ADD and ADHD. He requires around the clock care outside of school. My youngest son has a bone disease. I usually care for all of my children after school. I love to care for others. I'm a sweet, caring, loving, and outgoing person who will take care of others like they are my family. I can do any job around the house. I enjoy talking to others about their life and love hearing stories they have to tell. I love to make others smile and let them enjoy life. Seeing others smile, that brings so much joy to me. My personal achievement would be going back to school. I went back to school for computers. I love working on computers and caring for others. My life has spiral downhill because I don't have that support from family and friends. I just want to show others that there are people who genuinely care and want to be there for them.
