I took care of my father, in our home, for over 8 years before he passed away on Mother's day 2019. I managed his medication, cleaned the house, made his meals, washed his clothes, helped dress and gave him baths. I assisted him in walking and eating. I delt with insurance companies and doctors offices. I took him to and from the doctor. Changed bandages and just sat and talked to him. I now take care of my mother, in almost the same way. I love to help people and make them feel better in any way that I can. Taking the stress off the person and their families is a way, I feel like, I can make that happen. I have learned a lot (hands-on) and a personal achievement I'm proud of, is learning how to pull community resources to assist the families I help.

I am 54 years old. God gave me a gift to help elders, and I love that gift! I have been doing this all my life. I can't express enough how it makes me feel to go home knowing I made them smile, or laugh for that day. I think exercise is very important if they are capable, and Companionship, Honesty, and just having a heart that cares for people. I go above and beyond for my elders, and I will treat them as they were my very own.

I was a CNA years ago but went to a part time job because I was having a hard time not seeing my kids. Since then I have raised 3 girls and have driven a school bus for over 30 years, became the owner of a embroidery business, sold it and retired from driving in 2018. I took care of my grandmother for nearly 8 years in my home. We both decided that the personal care (bathing) would be better if someone that was not family, provided that for her but all of the care beyond that was handled by me.
