I have been a caregiver off and on for over 25 years and I love what I do! I have been told I have a "old soul" and that I have a special way of getting people to smile and feel comfortable. I got into this line of work after helping my mother care for my grandparents that both had Alzheimer's and Dementia. This work is very rewarding for me because I not only FEEL like I make a difference in my clients lives, but, it also shows by the smiles on the faces of them and their families. I not only assist with daily living activities and house keeping, but I also provide companionship and support. I have the ability to fit in just like a member of the family most times and it is very important to me that my clients feel respected and safe and loved. Each day will begin with a huge smile and a quick sit down visit and conversation that hopefully includes some laughs and more smiles and when the day is done I will give a round of hugs and more smiles until my next visit. I am a caring, empathetic caregiver. I took care of my Mother for 15 years as her primary caregiver, taking her to her appointments, shopping and assisting her at home. I also helped take care of my Mother-In-law when she was diagnosed with lung cancer. I worked for Jordan's Home Health Care for 5 1/2 years as a caregiver for an elderly gentlemen . I have experience with him as a patient who was able to ambulate and later as a patient who was wheelchair bound. I cleaned his home, did laundry, swept and mopped, prepared his evening meals, picked up his medicine and shopped for his groceries. I enjoy seeing my clients having a good day.
