I have 13 years experience as a Cna and 20 years experience in the healthcare field. The reason I decided to become a caregiver is because of my grandmother, she turned I'll around 2003 and I stepped in to help take care of her. I think being a caregiver is my calling and something that I love and enjoy doing.

I became a Nursing Assistant when my grandfather was diagnosed with Cancer it was hard on my grandmother, but once I stepped in with bathing, helping with light housekeeping around the house or just letting my grandmother get out for an hour or two her load was lightened it was a blessing. I felt giving back to my grandfather for all the love and support he has given me all the years was truly from the heart, he later passed away within three months then my grandmother was diagnosed with Cancer and I stepped in for her with just myself and my little children and again it was a blessing but challenging at same time but God gave me strength through my trail and made me strong.If i can give that to everyone I come in contact with am complete because it's from the heart helping someone with a bath, dressing them for the day, of just having a conversation means a lot to so many.. I love what I do and can give another individual

I believe what helps me be a great caregiver is I believe in honesty intergrity and trustworthy. I love being a caregiver because you get to experience helping people in many different ways and I really enjoy the fact that I can help. My personal achievements that I'm proud of are completing high school school and getting my certification in nursing now I'm in school to be a nurse .

I was a Librarian back in the Philippines but when I came to the US in 2006, my friend encouraged me to try working with the elderly as a caregiver. Since then, I have been working as a caregiver and I developed the love and passion in taking care of the elderly. I have experience in taking care.of elderly with different health issues such as Alzheimers, Dementia, diabetis, heart diseases (ie. CHF), Lung or respiratory disease, stroke, cancer, hospice, etc. I assist my residents with their activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, walking, exercising, etc.. I also do meal preparation , laundry, light housekeeping and medication reminder. I can also assist my Residents with their errands and bring them to their doctor's appointments. I am not only a caregiver to to my Residents but I am also a companion, a friend, a confidant whom they could trust and depend on. I am a responsible person,, loyal and reliable. I stay with my Residents until they terminate my employment. I am proud of being a caregiver because I know I make a difference in the lives of my Residents and I am grateful that most of my Residents that I have taken cared of, including their families, trusted me to be part of the last journey of their lives. My nationality is Filipino and we are known to be the best in caregiving, especially to the elderly.

Overall I'm a helpful person and always have been. It's a pleasure for me to assist and help those that aren't able to do for themselves. That's one reason I've gravitated towards being a caregiver. I get joy from helping those that can't. As you get older in age things become hard and most people simply just enjoy the company of someone. My goal is to ultimately try to work in a nursing home after schooling.

Hi My name is Emica Dumesle-Henry. When I first started home care, I was taking care of my mom. I am caring by nature. I know how important it is to find good help to take care of loves ones. I have been in home health care for well over 6 year. My mom had a lot of health issues I had to deal with. She was blind, she had renal failure, she has asthma, she high blood pressure, and diabetes, she was required to have oxygen. I took good care of my mom until she died this year because her health got the best of her. I use to go to every doctors appointments with. Back in 2011 at one particular appointment the case workers ask did I have any one coming out to help her, ie home care provider, I said no I do every thing. She then gave me a card and told me I can get paid for the things I was already doing, the rest is history. During the time I did home care for my mom, I received a lot of training and certificate form DHS DORS, Bed making, problem solving, working with depress clients, and many more related certificates. What I enjoy the most by doing home health care is seeing the joy you bring to people who really needs your help. My most proud accomplishment was when I use to hear my mom tell everyone she knew how I take good care of her. That use to make me feel like I am doing something right.
