I became a care giver because I was an LPN and was injured on a job, and I still wanted to take care of people. My mother had Alzheimer's and I realized it was really hard finding dependable caregivers that really cared for patients. I give each patient my undivided attention and treat them like they are my mom or dad, and make them feel like they are the most important person in the world.

I cared for my Mother in my home until she passed, and cared for my husband (bone cancer) until he passed. I have a strong desire to help others when they are ill. I try to make each day a little better for them. I love to see them laugh and enjoy preparing their favorite foods, having conversations and listening to them. I am very active with my family, we ride roller coasters, go on cruises and we have dinner a least once a week. I am blessed to have a large loving family. Hi my name is Dana. I am a mother of five beautiful children three girls and two boys. I have been in the healthcare industry since 2009, it's a passion I have. I was born to help people and be there for anyone that needs it. I am cpr and first aide certified. I truly just want to be someone's helping hand or just someone that's there.

I was told at the age of 12 I was going to be a caregiver. Caregiving for the elderly is my life's work. I truly enjoy it. My greatest accomplishment has been learning how to do an in and out cath(female) by the patient herself!!

I became a caregiver completely by accident, but for sure not an accident. My neighbor, who I had yet to meet, asked me over to meet with her and her brother. Apparently, her brother had a crush on me and she needed someone to sit with him during the day. That was a 3 year friendship even after they moved out of state. From then until now, I've been a constant caregiver. I've cared for my own family members, my friend's family members and for strangers who became family members. I've worked in assisted living facilities, nursing homes and private in home care. Private in home care is my choice over anything, because I know that my person will have all the attention and care they need. The one thing I ask other caregivers who are just starting out in this line of work is, what kind of relationship do you have with your parents and/or grandparents? If there is no relationship with their own family, there is no way they can ever give the kind of care someone else's parents or grandparents need. I go into each person's home and give the kind of attention and care I would expect a caregiver to give my own family member. You have to have the right mentality to do this line of work and I know for certain I've got that!

I find it extremely satisfying to help those who need help. I haven't been a care giver as a profession, but I know I would be a very competent companion to whomever needs me. My experience comes from helping both my elderly mother and sick brother. It is so satisfying to know that I have made someone's day much better; and look forward to continuing to make their life as comfortable as possible.
