I have been a caregiver for over 30 years. I ran and operated a state licensed daycare for 17 years. Upon closing my business I went to school for my CNA. I really enjoy my profession because I like helping people. My experience is vast from in home care to facilities to hospice care. References can be supplied for I have been with some families for years. Enjoying taking people out and about to appointments or for a lunch or for a ride can be quite nice for the patient. Having a lot of compassion and empathy for this job and for the people I help.

What makes me a great caregiver? Excellent question. I am very very respectful, even if an elderly person is becoming frail and/or senile, it's important to remember that they are a person with a lot of experience, and a person who was once able to stand on their own two feet. I am also very empathetic; Ageing can be a confusing and difficult process for some older people, as tasks they used to find simple become a challenge that needs to be overcome. I am also very very reliable. What attracted me to being a caregiver? I enjoy working with people and most enjoy jobs where you have one-on-one interaction with others. I enjoyed taking care of elder family members and would like to help others in this way. I like older adults and feel you can get along well with a variety of elders. I doing work that has the potential to make a difference in someone's life. I like doing a variety of tasks in a day. I don't ever say, "that's not my job" but instead like pitching in to do whatever is needed. I like making someone smile and doing little things to make a person's day better. I take pride in your attention to detail. I don't want a desk job; you like being physical in your job and using your body as well as your brain. I am seeking a career with growing opportunities. I don't want to invest in many years of formal education but you are willing to learn new skills and take continuing education to do your job well. I feel that when you are older, I'd want someone like myself there to help me if I need help. What do I enjoy most about being a caregiver? I think just meeting peoples' needs. Sometimes it's not a glamorous job but you leave and the people feel like they have been treated with dignity. Their needs are met, they're comfortable or as comfortable as you can help them become. It's a very important thing for me. Not that it has to be glamorous, but just their smiles. It's just a very rewarding thing.

I became a caregiver because I enjoy being around people, and helping then to feel better. I enjoy being useful as well as giving someone else that feeling as well, many times older people feel like they are left behind or nonproductive yet they still have wisdom to share. I went back to school as an older person in my thirties, and I excelled in my field.
Skills & Certifications: Alzheimer's Disease, Cardiovascular Disorders, Diabetes, Hospice Care, Post Surgery Recovery, Renal and Urological Disorders, Skin Disorders

I have been a caregiver and for sixteen years and absolutely love it. I love people and making sure their needs are met and their happy. I like to build a strong trusting, respectful relationship with them. I guess its the mom in me as I have 3 wonderful children that are all honor students, and they wanted to be. My most personal achievement was having my children, getting over some very tough times, and becoming an LPN while pregnant with my last child. I am very nurturing, apathetic, caring, respecful and kind. I would love to meet with you and see if we are a good fit, that is so important. I want you to feel as comfortable with me as I am with you. God bless. Marianne
