I am a care giver naturally. I love helping others. I took care of my parents before they passed my Dad had cancer and wanted to stay home until he passed and I helped him through his journey. Feeding changing his bed administering pain meds and checking vitals. My Mom had a stroke several years later and kelp her at home for 5 years. I trained as a CNA but because of personal reasons was unable to finish . I can take vital signs, bath,assist to bathroom cook clean anything necessary to help a loved one stay at home and be as comfortable as possible. Even though my last job didn't envole complete care to an individual I did assist them several them times over my 20 years when they were sick. I've raised 3 children 3 grandchildren. I'm married to a wonderful caring husband. It's unfortunate in this time of my life because of covid I am now having to seek employment because my employer is down sizing . I look forward to meeting my next family to help and take care of their needs . I love to serve others. I choose to look up not down when things take a crazy turn. I decided to become a caregiver at a very young age. My grandmother's battle with cancer had a huge influence on my decision to join the medical field. I applied at Oakview Health and Rehabilitation to participate in their CNA classes. I was more than thrilled to have gotten a call saying I was accepted, this was in May of 2014. I was certified, then later started working as a CNA there. I left in February of this year to try a more personal type of caregiving. I honestly didn't like being in a rush while feeding, grooming, bathing, or just simply helping someone. I went to a home health agency in Rome, GA and worked with several different clients. I had two full time clients both located in Lafayette, Ga that I cared for 12 hours a day, 4 or 5 days a week. Needless to say, I was extremely attached and they were like my own grandparents. They both passed away, and because of lack of clients, I decided to go back full time at Oakview. I have absolutely fallen in love with being a caregiver, it gives me a feeling that nothing else can compare to. I love to care for others, and every patient I've ever had immediately becomes family to me. I get along very well with other people and have a lot of patience. The home health agency I worked for actually sent me to the difficult clients because they knew I could soften them up! I have a calm personality, and I am a very giving person. I started as a caregiver when I was in my early teens. I took care of my childhood friend who had cancer, and also my grandmother, father, and mother. Being a caregiver is the most satisfying work I have ever experienced.
