I have been working in health care since a young age, starting off being a health care aide for my blind grandmother at the tender age of 8 years old. From there on I found my passion in life. During my years as working as a personal care aide, I had the opportunity to take care of my parents during their last days. In doing so, I was able to gain a personal insight on the importance of having the right person taking care of your loved ones, which gave me an even greater passion for the work I do. Hello! My name is Heather Dunmire, I have been in the medical field for 8 years now. My first job out of high school was a nurses aide position. I went on to further my education and obtain my CNA license in January 2017. I have a strong passion for wanting to help others and wanting to see them succeed. I have worked in a childcare facility as a shift supervisor before but I always find my way back to my elderly folk, that is where I feel my heart is at and where I feel I do my best work. I love hearing their stories from all throughout their lives, and I absolutely love to see the smiles on their faces. I like to really take the time to find out what their dislikes and likes are, get to know their routine of things, and try to connect with them in a way to make them feel safe and secure. I am cpr, first aid, aed, and Heimlich trained. I am also diabetic trained and medication trained, and insulin trained and I have a customer service certification. I am a senior nursing student at IUP, and I will be graduating in may. I am very compassionate and love the field of work I am in. I have experience with caring for the elderly, as I was a caregiver for my neighbor back in High School. Since I am a senior student I have completed all areas of nursing (I will be in Psychiatrics and community nursing this upcoming semester). I am stroke and CPR certified, and also have general and military background checks and clearances. Upon graduation I will be a Active Duty Nurse in the Army.
