I became a care giver in 2011 after taking care of my mother with alzeheimer's and then my husband who had 2 types of cancer. I took my mother out of 2 facilities due to an obvious lack of care. After their passing I realized with all we had been through the importance of care giving, with compassion. I became an LNA and took care of clients in their homes. After being with a global corporation for 18 years, this is the first time in my career that I felt good about myself every night when I came home. I saw firsthanded the difference in the quality of my senior clients lives because I was their for them and I truly cared about their safety, happiness and well being. I am particularly proud to have kept one of my clients in his home 2 years longer and happier than the doctor's said he would be able to be. I am the eldest of 6 siblings, raised Irish Catholic and I was always the caregiver to my sibs. It was just a natural thing for me. I enjoyed helping Mom and took the responsibility seriously that she granted me. I feel this is truly my purpose in life and loving it makes it even better!
