About Kimberly

Hello everyone, my name is Kim. I am originally from NC, which is where I have, so far, completed my education and skills. I have years of experience in patient care. I am a very compassionate and empathetic caregiver. I'm able to adapt well to different personalities. My strongest personality traits are my listening skills and my keen intuition. I became more interested in geriatrics when I became a medical assistant. I enjoyed emergency medicine but God gave me this incredible ability to love people, like I have known them my whole life. In particular, to give outstanding care to the ones who once took care of us. What I love most about being a caregiver is making people feel comfortable, respected, important and dignified. A personal achievement I am proud of and blessed to have, are my two sons. My oldest is 8 yrs old and is Autistic. It has been an incredible/beautiful journey watching him achieve little milestones we sometimes take for granted. My youngest son is 6 years old but acts like he is 35. They bring me joy and laughter on my worst days. I hope you will consider me to take care of your loved ones needs on a regular basis. It's truly an honor and a privilege. Thank you!

CNA-student

May 2008 - Aug 2008
Johnston UNC Healthcare
I attended the CNA I program through the hospital I was employed through, Johnston Medical Center (the name at the time). I did my clinical rotations at the hospital and the nursing home. I completed the entire program with a 100 average but, I married into the military shortly after so I didn't sit for my state test. We moved out of state to Illinois for recruiting. I am at a place now, with my husband's military career coming to an end (23 years) and having the extra care I need for my 2 children, to get back on the band wagon and continue to further my education. Working in Geriatrics is the best job I have ever had. Helping others (family and all) is a huge blessing to me.

I worked part time with Dr. Woodall from the afternoon until late evening as his Medical Assistant. I went to school during the day for EMT-B. I checked in patients for chief complaint. Recorded and documented vital signs, checked FSBS if diabetic. Update medication list and added new ones if needed. Per physician orders: Create and maintain sterile fields for patient procedures, IM injections, venipuncture for labs, urinalysis and other duties as ordered by physician.

Medical Assistant-trainee to full time MA

Aug 1999 - Jul 2002
Urgent Care
After I finished my phlebotomy training, I applied and was hired by the Urgent Care in my community. For the first, full time 6 months of employment, I was trained by the LPN Office Manager and a x-ray technician to become a Medical Assistant. We did not have Medical Assistant programs in college at that time. After many practice hours, completed with supervision, I successfully completed all requirements to perform as a Medical Assistant. I checked in patients for chief complaint, measured and recorded vital signs, venipuncture for labs, urinalysis, IM injections, PPD injections, DOT and Non-DOT physicals with drug screening. Set up and maintain sterile field for procedures. Autoclave equipment after use. I fit patients into orthopedic equipment. Educated patients on wound care and the importance of follow up care.

Compassionate honest outgoing and loving with a heart for the elderly. After serving the country I went to school and became a CNA then PCT. I've worked in nursing homes as well as for families for over 15 years. The most enjoyable side of being a caregiver besides serving is being able to help others do what they normally could not do on their own. I've been able to help those they sent home from the hospital in a wheelchair to be able to walk again, feed themselves and other things.
